BasementWorks now offers fixed price interior packages, right down to the final details
Our design team will lead you from an initial consultation on what a basement extension could bring to your home, through to the architectural style, fit-out and furnishing of your new basement. Our fixed price fit-out options offer a menu of styles and features, built upon many years experience of creating bespoke interiors*. Our menu options cover basement cinema rooms, living rooms, bedrooms and shower rooms, utility rooms and storage rooms.
In addition, our interior design team can assist in furnishing your basement conversion, including blinds, curtains and other window treatments, joinery items, bedroom furniture, sofas and other upholstered items, rugs, lamps etc. right down to the final touches, offering you trade discounts on your purchases.
Alongside questions of how the basement space will work practically, there is also the question of how the new basement will work aesthetically with the existing house. Many clients opt for a complimentary modern basement space under their period home. The flexibility of space in the basement does lend itself very well to modern design, yet requires careful detailing at the entrance to the staircase to manage the transition smoothly. We do not generally recommend using ‘period features’ such as ceiling cornice, period doors, door frames and skirting in completely new basement floors. Re-using period features cannot make the basement look like an original part of the house, and ‘matching in’ only confuses the architectural integrity of the house.
However, if modern is not for you, there are subtle ways of giving the new basement a more ‘classic’ feel, such as a softer version of complex period detailing which would have been found in a historic basement. Whatever your style we will ensure your basement is the perfect blend of your taste and requirements. We will be delighted to take you to view finished basements to help you with ideas and inspiration on how you would like your basement to look.
